Pick and mix party bags
A little bag of sweets to take home is a part of children's parties. Here is how much to put in, which sweets to leave out for younger guests, and how to make sure parents know what is inside.

Party bags are the small bags of treats children take home from a party, and pick and mix is an easy way to fill them, because each bag can be a mix.
How much to put in
Sellers' guides suggest about 50 to 75 g of sweets per child, so twenty party bags need about 1 to 1.5 kg in total: see how much pick and mix do you need per person?
We sell every sweet by the 100 g, so you can build the mix you want, and each bag can hold a little of several sweets.
What to leave out for younger guests
The NHS says not to give young children hard foods such as boiled sweets or whole nuts, because of the risk of choking. If some guests are toddlers or pre school children, leave hard sweets and nuts out of their bags: see hard sweets and young children
Allergies and labels
Once a party bag leaves the party, the parent is the one who checks what is inside, and loose sweets have no packet to read. Add a note to each bag listing the sweets and their allergens, or keep the ingredients information to pass on if asked. If a guest has an allergy, make up that child's bag separately, with a clean scoop, so nothing is carried over from other sweets: see pick and mix and allergies
