The name covers two quite different things: a colourful mix of chopped fruits, often candied, and a flavouring made to taste like many different fruits at once, with vanilla.\nWhere it came from\nTutti frutti has been a dessert for a long time. Tutti frutti ice cream appeared on the bill of fare for a dinner in England in 1860, and recipes for it were printed in cookbooks of the late 19th century. In the Netherlands and Belgium, tutti frutti is a dish of dried fruits such as raisins, apricots, prunes and figs, served as a dessert or with meat.
