## Description

A kilo of pick and mix is 1,000 g: ten of the 100 g portions we sell. How many sweets that makes depends entirely on which sweets are in it, because some sweets are much smaller and lighter than others.

Only the Jelly Belly figure is a count given by the maker for a whole kilo. The other two are our own arithmetic from the serving sizes on the makers' American labels, so treat them as a guide. Sizes and recipes can vary between brands and countries. A mixed kilo will land somewhere in between, depending on your choices.
How far a kilo goes
There is no official portion for sweets at a party. Sellers' guides range from about 100 g a guest, suggested by the sweet wholesaler Wholesale Sweets, to 200 to 250 g an adult, suggested by the event hire company The Added Extra, which puts children at 50 to 75 g. It is also worth keeping sugar in mind. The NHS advises that adults have no more than 30 g of free sugars a day, and boiled sweets are nearly 100 per cent sugar, so a kilo of them is close to a kilo of sugar.
